Health & Wellness
As part of the Millbridge Health & Wellness program, good nutrition
and healthy food choices are being emphasized. A person's lifelong
eating habits are greatly influenced by the types of foods and beverages
available to them when they are young. Eating a healthy breakfast is an essential part of any health program!
Parents are being encouraged to send healthy snacks and lunches to
school. Replace snacks such as cookies, potato chips, cupcakes, candy,
etc. with fruits, raw vegetables, low fat granola bars, pretzels,
popcorn, etc. Encourage your child to purchase nutritious lunches and
lunchtime snacks. Avoid foods with high sugar, fat and salt content as well as color additives.
When eating out, green salads, vegetables and a lean source of protein
should be ordered in place of burgers, french fries and other fried and
fatty foods. Healthy eating habits and nutrition education should begin
at home. Children should be outside playing and exercising. Encourage
physical activity with your family. Please discuss any concerns about
your child's weight with their pediatrician. Thank you for supporting
this important program.
